Great video Glenn. I've heard you double now on both horns, trumpet and sax, and I got to say, you are a truly gifted musician! You have mastered both horns, not an easy task. Just wondering, do you remember the reed man Roland Kirk, who used to p...

Lou and Eva

Stan and I had alot in commen.

Stan Getz was a large influence in my tenor playing. Like myself, Stan started playing tenor sax at the age of 13. He, also like myself, had spent up to 8 hours a day practicing his tenor. My music teacher constantly told me "Practice Makes Perfect" later on in school I was taught "No Ones Perfect". Hmmm, confuse a kid, why don't ya. Anyway, What I loved most about Stan was his Sambas and Bossa Novas. He was known for his cool jazz sound, and became popular while playing with Woody Herman and la… Continue

Dear Lou and Eva,

This video is incredible, AMAZING !
I like what this man did with the carrot...that's why I'm playing the soprano sax which the common nickname is "the carrot"!!
It is a great video and the sound is very sweet and cool!

Thanks for this.

Have a nice day!

Your friend!

Hello Lou and Eva
Thank you very much to send me such a so cute e-mail !
I am also so excited to hear what the TRIBUTE TO STAN GETZ jazz event could be next summer! I am very busy with my work as a police officer but like I'm only sleep 3 or 4 hours a day , I've got enought time to draw, paint and play music. (
I will record a part of the next Jazz event! You will see it ! I try to "cut" my work out for me, that's true! Thank you to have listened my video of Autumn Leaves, Taht's true, I really loves to play my horn. Unfortunatly, I live around MONACO, I never been in N.Y but next year, I will go there, to meet Bev Getz, visit some Jazz Club and make a tour in N-Y before going to see "American chopper " TEUTUL's house, who are people in Mongomery who are building some good motorbikes ( I also draw some bikes as an amator designer). Thank you for the tutoring on playing the sax. That's true, I stopped learning sax for myself there's 10 years, and, when I cut my four tendons in an military accident, Last year, I was thinking about playing again to strengthen my fingers as as therapy ! You're right!!! I am trying to play sax for an hour a day, when I come back to my duty.
I will try to improve myself as I can, because my dream will be to play with others musicians like Livio Zanellato and Silvano Manco, my new friends I saw and met during a Jazz event! May be I could play with professionnals musicians one day...who dares wins, like we say in the Airborne !
I love Stan Getz since I was a kid, he was the first tenor saxophone I was hearing, he makes me a very strange sentiment inside me, something wich makes him very close to me...I don't know why, I really feel something when I 'm hearing him, I also like Dexter Gordon, Sonny Rollins, James Moody, Paquito de Rivera, David Sanborn, Steve Lacy, Sydney Bechet and many others!
Hope to meet you one day!
Please, let me know what you are thinking about my last paintings of Stan ?
I hope to hear you, why not putting a video while you are playing !
