The story goes that one day God announced he wished to play a musical instrument and so he choose the tenor saxophone because to him, it sounded closest to the sound of an angelic voice. An angel nearby hearing God suggested he listen to a Stan Getz recording which God did. After listening to a tune or two God declared that he had decided to choose another instrument. When the angel asked God why he had changed his mind God paused, smiled broadly, and answered..."because I have heard the voice of perfection". R.I.P. Stan Michael J. Simonetti May 15, 2009

Many thanks to our friends here on the Forum, DENIS & ROGER for sending this to me! Bev *******************************************************************
Welcome to the new and improved SG forum! Firstly, my sincere apologies to all of you who joined the vbulletin forum on Stan's web page. I hope you will all come and join us here! (By the way... if you are already a member of 'ning', you can simply use your existing login and password to sign in) Stan's site is under new "creative management"! We found that vbulletin was just a tad 'dour'. This network allows for more interaction and freedom to be yourself. Add photos, music, videos, etc. While the site was created to remember/discuss Stan, we openly invite and look forward to all discussions about music, musicians and the like. I only request that we still 'keep it clean"! Remember, there are kids out there that may want to participate. Again, so sorry if this causes any inconvenience. But I do believe that you will all enjoy this new extension of Stan's web site! I would still request that you all please sign in using your name and not a screen name so as to avoid 'spammers'. This will help the administrators and moderators greatly with their task and time! All My Best, Bev P.S. While you can upload whatever music to your own page, please be respectful of copyright!

In 1952 Stan Getz did a live recording of a tune he wrote called "SWEETIE PIE" in one of the jazz clubs in NYC. and I believe it's the only one he did on this tune. What I'm looking for is the chord structure on it. It sounds like a combination of Honeysuckle Rose and another tune like "SWEET SUE"on the bridge. Stan really swings on this one. Give me a buzz if anybody has some info on this song. Thank's and stay well.
