For the Japanese, the beautiful period of its flowering and then the all too soon fading and subsequent scattering of petals on the wind, symbolizes life itself - but not life in some abstract and distant sense. The fragility of the cherry blossom is the fragility of human existence.
Cherry blossoms are the flowers most beloved by the Japanese. Because cherry blossoms have short blooming times and are fragile, they have been used to symbolize the transience of life; this symbolism meshed well with the teachings of Buddhism. Also, since cherry trees blossom en masse, they have also been used as metaphors for clouds.
*If it has five petals, it means luck, because five petals (much like a four leaf clover) is very rare.
Hey Joannah:) I don't know why I haven't been here to say hello to an "Austonian":) I actually just moved up here to Steiner Ranch by lake Travis. It is so beautiful here in Austin, I wonder why I didn't come here sooner?:/ Let me ask you, do you know where the JAZZ hot spots are here. I pretty much know to steer clear of 6th street lol. Have an excellent weekend...blessings to you(-:O
Thank you Joannah... for working so hard (while "mom" is cracking the whip!) to make our "rooms" so nice & clean!
we love you!

Hello doll,
I am sorry I haven't been around. I have been going through alot lately. My best friend in the world passed away of breast cancer. I am in a sad state right now and haven't felt much like writing. How are you doing? How is life treating you? Good I hope. Take care. L.
Well gesh...It took me long enough to respond back didn't it?! So sorry, I have been sick. A little broken down, I am an old model T, hard to find parts. I am slowly getting myself back together.
I had to chuckle when I read what you said about your mom giving you the book "Oh the places You'll Go." LOL! I can relate. I stayed home for a year after college! I finally left home because my father was going to charge me rent, and I found a place in NYC with cheeper rent. Ah, those were the days! LOL! I hope you are doing well. Have a great weekend! My son, Mitchell is riding in the Pegasus horses show this Sunday. I am praying for sunshine. L.
