- Found jazz when I was in the USNavy aboard ship in Calif.in 1953. Until then I was an R&B, soul music fan.
A shipmate found Jesus and gave me his jazz records, I guess jazz was the devil's music in his religion. In the
group of records was Stan, among others. I've been a Stan
and jazz fan ever since. I have a huge collection of Stan's
work, and had seen him in person several times. My last
cd of Stan's was the one with Kenny Barron, a masterpiece
