I am a french saxophonist (beginner) and I like Stan Getz, sometimes when I am earing some good tunes like "First song" " for Ruth" with Kenny Barron, I am crying because it is so lyric and so beautiful !!
I am also a painter ( not a professionnal one) and I made a painting of Stan Getz which is ( and not was, because he's still living in our hearts) my personal favourite tenor saxophonist!
I hope you will understand my english! I am speaking it but it is not so often that I can write it!!!! I like this web site, well done!
A bientôt
Hi Gérard
Sorry for not replying earlier, I was in the south of France during the last week with friends musicians to meet other musicians in the region of Marseille and we played each day.
I watched with great pleasure your paintings. Thank you on behalf of those who are nuts about Stan Getz [This last sentence is not a good translation: it's a joke with timbre/stamp and timbré de/nuts about]
I'm trying to put pieces a little more rare than others and that our friends in the community have not already uploaded to their page.
Good evening Pascal,
Thank you for this message which makes me a great pleasure! I am also a big fan of Stan Getz as you said "stamped" (Good joke!), it is my favorite saxophonist, the one who gets me most, it is the first one whom I listened when I was a child when the Jazz was also listened in certain supermarkets in background music! Especially in "casinos", these small supermarkets!
I always dreamed to play as him but it is missed, he is unique and to learn in self-taught is not sensational but I get a real pleasure to play my sax.
Thank you also for the compliments concerning my paintings, I have not enough claim, I enjoy myself and I take some pleasure there, it is the main part!!
I lived near Marseille during five years, I was a gendarme ( police officer) in Rousset near the Mountain saint-Victoire, dear to Cézanne!! I had the chance to see Marcel Zannini, another French wellknown sax player in this Bouches-du-Rhône a very beautiful area from France.
Bravo Pascal for the fragments which you put on-line !! Take care !!
Gérard

hi Rubiano ! pleasure to meet you. I haven't been to Europe for quite awhile since Nice in the 80s. How is the jazz scene out there these days ? My daughter who is helping me archive my life in music recently spent 2 months outside of Paris and she absolutely loved France. She works for a major movie star who was shooting a film there. best,Glenn

thanks Rubiano and the painting of Stan is superb and captures his spirit and i am sure he would of liked it very much. Thank you for your wonderful offer and i would like that very much. I haven't had a painting done since my very first album live at Eddie Condon's and the same artist did my Jazz Christmas Album with Milt Hinton and Maxinne Sullivan. I will upload FYI it but it might difficult to see. best,
Glenn
