I like this picture ..many month ago, when I was starting to organize the concert which will take place next summer in Eze-village (French Riviera near Monaco) I met a friend of mine who's got a music instruments shop...he was saying me that STAN was playing sometimes soprano sax but I did not hear him playing such a saxophone....so with this picture, I can see my friend was saying me something true !!!
I am playing too soprano sax ( I'm not good enought) but I like to know Stan was playing this sax because Stan is my favourite saxophone player with Dexter Gordon !!

Gérard! Glad this photo cleared up the mystery of the soprano sax for you. I think Stan could have made beautiful music with even a comb and tissue paper. Your "spectacle" in Eze sounds intriguing. I wish you much good fortune and success. Unfortunately it is too far from the Corrèze for me. Marciac is a 4 hour drive and that is the limit. As for favorite saxophonists: give a listen to "Art Pepper, Live at the Village Vanguard."
