This is me with Stan in his dressing room at Carnegie Hall on June 29, 1990. I was twenty-three years old, and I looked pale next to Stan!

Although the concert was at 8pm, I arrived around noon. Stan had gone to lunch, and when he returned, I was there waiting for him. He was very kind, and we hung out all day long. This is where I showed him all of my transcriptions of his solos.

I had no idea at the time that this was the last time I'd see Stan. He passed away on June 6, 1991...Just short of a year after this photo was taken.
