Hi Richard! Thanks for uploading so many wonderful tracks! I've never heard many of these!
That sounds like Chick on Crystal Silence... was this tune originally slated to be on Captain Marvel? The mix sounds very much like the rest of that album. Could you send me the mp3 of it? I would really love to have it! (-; If so... stangetzllc@optonline.net
Thanks also for the many pics! Wonderful! Happy you found us here and that you're a member!

Hi dear Rick.
THANK YOU for the most beautiful comment!!!! Made my day much brighter.
I've never heard of the singer you mentioned - have to check I would love to hear her sing.
About the piano, it's not me on piano it's Egil Kapstad, a wonderful pianist, composer and arranger.
Thank you again Rick for your words.
Talk to you again soon.
All the best in life

Hi Richard, Glad to meet you here at the Getz Community. I'm sorry to hear your health has been failing you lately and hope music and some laughs might ease any disabling health problems you may have. I know it seems to help me when I'm feeling under the weather. I had a good laugh at the music-bar joke on the bottom of your page. Although, 10 years is a lot of time for a minor.lol I have one question for you. Who's your favorite Guitarist? Who had the most impact on your playing? Wishing you good health and all the best. - Lou
I hope you are fine today ! I am going to go working by night, like the standard "Night and day" !
Please send me your address, I would like to send you a postcard with the Stan getz's stamp I've made for Stan!

Herb Ellis - Stan Getz "Nothing But The Blues"
Every Herb Ellis follower should know this one, and should also knows that this album is easily one of his best in his lenghty career. But, did you know that it had also been released as "After Hours Session"? (See second cover).
"Guitarist Herb Ellis considers this is his favorite personal album and it is easy to see why. With trumpeter Roy Eldridge and tenor saxophonist Stan Getz contributing contrasting but equally rewarding solos and lots of inspired riffing while bassist Ray Brown and drummer Stan Levey joined Ellis in the pianoless rhythm section, these performances have plenty of color and drive. Herb Ellis does indeed stick to the blues during the original eight selections yet there is also a surprising amount of variety. This CD reissue has been augmented by four numbers from 1958 originally recorded for a European soundtrack. Getz, Eldridge, and Coleman Hawkins all have their features but Dizzy Gillespie fares best best od all."
Roy Eldridge trumpeter
Stan Getz tenor saxophonist
Ray Brown bassist
Stan Levey drummer
Coleman Hawkins
Dizzy Gillespie
Tracks 1-8 original LP issue.
1. Pap's Blues
2. Big Red's Boogie Woogie
3. Tin Roof Blues
4. Soft Winds
5. Royal Garden Blues
6. Patti Cake
7. Blues for Janet
8. Blues for Junior
Some trivia.
You have probably seen "Blues For Junior" on countless Herb Ellis recordings. The reason is simple. This is his all-time favorite blues tune. This is a Ray Brown tune, and Junior is his son.
"Big Red's Boogie Woogie". Red is Herb Ellis himself.
"Patti Cake". Patti is Herb's wife.
"Blues for Janet". Janet is Herb's niece.
Don't ask about Pap in "Pap's Blues"; not even Herb recalls his identity.
Amazing though it may sem, this album has been discontinued, and Amazon lists one copy at $91.45 that might not even be playable.
This rip comes from my 1958 copy album.
Tracks 1-8. recorded Oct. 11-12, 1956 in Hollywood.
Tracks 9-12 recorded May 1, 1958 in Paris.
The Lost Sessions 9-12
and that was not either 1958 albums!
Yes I have my ways to get some stuff like the sound tech at the Lost Sessions had a copy and I got it from his son.
