What a great analysis of this song. Stan most of really loved this song and with so many versions on so many albums, this is the best of all of them, my opinion.. What also I found totally enlightening was your description of the dim7 chords, I thought it was a tool to allow Dom7th substitution, being they are so ambiguous in nature. I now see a better application for their use. But as a Guitarist I use them in comp so I don't get in some one else's space, yet stay within the harmony.…

The entire song is amazing - I love how Oscar quotes Stan's last phrase at the outset of his solo - a hallmark of both players. I would love a transcription of this if anyone knows where one might be available!

I LOVE this song. This is another I hadn't had the pleasure of hearing Stan do until this evening. I don't play Sax..yet...lol BUT I do improvise with my imaginary instrument:) I love what he plays around the 2:41 in this piece. (Hopefully I didn't dislexic my numbers..lol) REALLY? The piece as a whole is mastered in melody, movement and signature Stan. LOVE IT!! (-:O

This track has always been one of my favorite.
For me the beauty of it is in it's utterly melodic development.
Having tried to transcribe this solo, I know. Really it is so logical.
All the phrases fall neatly into place. Playing along with Stan on this one
is really fun.

Thanks for the great analysis Greg.
