Profile Information:

About me:
The short version: currently residing on the New Hampshire seacoast, I have lived and loved a full and generally Bohemian existence, other than the 20 years I spent raising a family, in NY and Kentucky. Always a jazz lover but a player of many styles out of necessity, I spent years on the road with one musical configuation or another, sharing the stage with a diverse bunch of singers and musicians, from R&B legends Arthur Conley, Curtis Mayfield and Eddie Floyd to jazz luminaries Gabrielle Goodman and Michael Henderson. Some of the not-so-musical legends I have played with include Sam the Sham and Dr. Hook, but, oh well...

For the last nine years or so I've devoted my time exclusively to playing and recording as a trio leader, digging the freedom and challenges that the guitar trio format offers. My latest project is taking time off to immerse myself in the technique and repertoire of the growing jazz Manouche movement. To this end I have acquired a new Dell'Arte petite bouche Django guitar, although she will never supplant my beloved D'Angelico New Yorker!

My current CD is Winds of Bodhgaya, available through Amazon.com and CD Baby (details and samples are linked through my website.)

I have long been an admirer and fan of the great Stan Getz, who I have had the privilege of meeting and hearing in the venue which suited him best- an intimate jazz club. His music will live forever.

Well, boy howdy, there's my friend Bill playing his beautiful new guitar! What? No shots of Julie with monkeys? Oh well, the dog will work ;o) I dig all of the new pics, many of them made me smile. It's good to be here with you. It's so nice to dig the infinitely hip Getz vibe together. You'll hear from me soon. Now we have three lines of virtual communication to play through. :o)

Hey Bill, So glad to become friends here at the New and Improved Stan Community. (o: Bev is sooo cool for bringing this jazz community together. Your guitar playing is simply amazing. I can hear the influce that Kenny Burrell, Joe Pass, Pat Martino, and some of the masters has ingrained into your seasoned playing ability. I also see you achieved first degree black belt in the martial arts,... remind me never to piss you off. (o: My wife Eva also loves the martial arts and has a yellow belt in JuJitsu, so I feel safe with her around. HaHa. Wishing you many Happy Gigs on your road ahead, and keep the music alive. - Louis

    Hi.
I've been very lazy when it comes to saying hi and leaving comments here and on Myspace, but I really should have written to you a long long time ago and thanked you for what you wrote at jazz.com about the tracks from Hilde's CD's.
Thank you Bill!! Your words means a lot.
