Mahalo for the add! We had a fantastic visit to the Hawaiian Islands (Oahu,Kauai,The Big Island, and Maui...25 days of splendor)... I took lots of photos and have posted some on my myspace site.

I thought of you and your Dad as we encountered several large dolphin pods along the Na Pali coastline in Kauai (took a smaller rubber raft boat, so, were able to get VERY close)! Also many sunrise/sunset pics.. and photos of the breathtaking landscape..Please check them out when you get the opportunity...

It was a magical adventure!

Seriously, I know how hard it is to leave the cuddly critters...lol I live alone with mine, so mine is a 3 hour and 15 minute drive just to get them a "babysitter" unless I pay the concierge to do it (which is well worth it, they are excellent and love Cupid & my kitties to pieces:) )

I was given a copy of "Stan Getz A Life in Jazz" and read that the Getz family stayed at Lew & Jenny Hoad's tennis ranch and wondered who was the tennis player in the Getz family.
Seemed remarkable that the best ever tenor player was staying with the best ever tennis player.
By the way I have a DVD of Stans last concert which was held in Munich.
I suppose everyone has this but if not I can send a copy.
I also have a number of early LP's but I suppose the same applies.

It looks like you had fun summer with the girls. I hate to see the summer go. Mitchell volunteered at Betsy's farm, "Corgi Hollow Farm." He had so much fun. Hi Bev. It's been awhile since we e'd / shared some info.
Well here's my part. NY was great, got to body surf for a couple of days out at Robert Moses=Jones beach, still the same, thank God. Ate my heart out. Every time I go back I realize how much I miss the east coast food. ESP the seeded Italian bread, yum yum.
Practice continues each and every day. What is new is that I'm a click away from getting my custom forever sax. But before I do that I needed to try a tenor. So, yesterday I rented a Selmer tenor for a week. After 2 days I'm almost sold, Tenor it is. I think your dad would be proud of me. I can't beleive the sound difference. Today I had a lesson with my teacher, brought the tenor, no alto. She listened and smiled, then she told me that since this is the music I listen to, this is what I should play. Even she noticed the passion in my play! A newbe at that!.
Will keep you posted.

The money is better, that's for sure. I am 52 years old and I have beed a Stan Getz fan most of my life. I have turned many people onto his music. Over the years like most sax players we have all tried to duplicate Stan's "airy tone" however no one could. There are great players out there and then there is an elite group of a few---Stan is #1 on the list. Some of the best players in the would said Stan was the best---including John Coltrane. Stan's music is forever.
