About me....to complex..haha ;)
I simply love the Saxophone and in my opinion, Stan Getz music in #1 on my top 5. There is no sound like the sound this man could make with this amazing instrument. Very distinct and unique sound. I love it.
I love to write songs by ear, seeing as I don't read a lick of music..lol. I will sit down at the piano, get into some lost world of my own and play what I hear in my heart. Have been singing for hire for 15+ years and enjoying every minute of it...bar one wedding I had to sing "Endless Love" haaaa
Spending hours lost in the world of writing and composing is my favorite thing to do when I have free time. I love my 3 children with all my heart, mind, body and soul. OH and Mia my precious grandbaby:) They are grown...26, 24 and 20...all successful at their choice of field and I give the credit for that to God...without him I could not have raised them to be so wonderful as they are.
THEN...there is my "furry family." When I feel lonely...they sense that and are there for me...no judgement, Just furry wonderful unconditional love:) I thank God for them every day..don't know what I'd do without em;)
Hmmm I love candles, making & smelling. When you light a candle in a room...you have created an instant ambiance of peace and calm. I love meeting new people, try to touch hurting peoples hearts and live each day as it comes:) That should do it!...Zzzzzzzz ;)...... and Bev....you are a sweetheart:) I love to come here as a refuge and a source of enjoyment as well. What a wonderful idea to keep memory of Stan with friendships music and laughter:) XOXO
GREAT FOOD FOR THOUGHT & APPLICATION:)
1.I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you…
2. No man or woman is worth your tears, & the one who is, won't make you cry.
3. Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.
4. A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand & touches your heart.
5.The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing you can't have them
6. Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.
7. To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.
8. Don't waste your time on someone, who isn't willing to waste their time on you.
9. Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful.
10. Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened.
11. There's always going to be people that hurt you so what you have to do is keep on trusting & just be more careful about who you trust next time around.
12. Make yourself a better person & know who you are before you try & know someone else & expect them to know you.
13. Don't try so hard, the best things come when you least expect them to.
Mornin Joan, glad those dwi'ers didn't cause a accident last night.
We don't want anything to happen to our dear new friend. It wasn't to bad here last night. It peeked between 9:00 and 11:00 and quieted down by midnight. Annie stayed between us and even managed to get in a few zzzzz s with the windows shut. We thought about Paulie, and how he was doing out on his own. Not a day goes by that we don't think of him.
Today a girlfriend is coming over with her new boyfriend. Lou's is thinking about playing a prank on the poor guy. His plan is to tell her to warn her new boyfriend on the way over that Lou has an imaginary friend named Roberto and that he sometimes talks to Roberto. After we all meet and sit around, Lou will start a private conversation with his imaginary friend and intoduce him. This should be interesting. We sure hope he has a sense of humor. We'll give a call at the end of the day a tell you how it all turned out. TTYL Eva and Lou
When you get a chance, add new member Don Hill as a friend. He was the sax player with the Treniers for 55 years. He was also with Louis Armstrong In the late 40s.
Thanks so much for all Joan...
This early night,; I have write this new song: Speedy Man...
It's only a film music SoundTrack speedy ambiance...
have fun

Happy 4th Joan. Glad you enjoyed the pics. These guys are everywhere. But so are the bunnies and squirrells. What gives? Or better what's for dinner? Even the geese are proliferating. What are these foxes eating, pasta?

Great page! Great music on your page, too! I'm curious - never been to Austin (but my sister lives in Dallas) - what's the music scene like there? I hear its pretty "happenin"
Hi Joan, I'm nonstop smiling while looking at your photos! What a lovely family you have :o) I hope all is beautiful in your candle, lotus pond, grand ballroom dancing world. It's been a while since I've been on this site and I've been missing out. I want to thank you for your inspiring words in your message to me. I love meeting soulful people like you here and I enjoy reading your comments on other pages too (is that like eavesdropping? nah), you're witty and deep, and that's a winning combination :o) I'm having fun getting to know you and will come back to see those beautiful sky blue eyes of yours soon! I was just thinking, wouldn't it be great to have a SG gathering and meet all of the wonderful friends we've made here?
YOU make this site special Joan! I'm so glad you're here. Your warmth and loving nature makes it feel like 'coming home' when I log on! Thanks for being YOU!
Hey Joan!
Are you really going to Tim's gig?! (-: Are you flying in from Austin? If so... very cool! I'm going to try my damnedest (is that a word!! Doesn't look right! lol) to get there. It's about a 3 1/2 hour drive. I have to find care for all the beasts here while I'm gone. If I can manage that... I won't miss it! Really hope to see you there!!
love ya,
Bev

Yes, I did escape the jack hammer loco motion...and now that things are set in concrete...our JBBQ "guys" suggested it was
time to post FIRST on the Great Stan Getz Community our new
song...which we have written/recorded/dedicated to the original
one and only "sweet -N- saxy" jazz buff of MySpace and other
Internet renown.....namely YOU...Joan DesCarpentier!!! The song
is called, naturally, "SO SWEET -N- SAXY"...and is heartfelt sax
jazz intended to express our joy and appreciation that you are now one of us...our "pardner in music crime" with Dr. Bob's Jazz
Boppin' Bebop Quartet - JBBQ. Your song is listed as # 1 on My Page - SGC and will soon also be on my two MySpace sites as well as other music venues in the near future.
Thank you for being you, Joan...as you so light up our lives...and enrich life for all others who know and love you!!!!!
How good to hear from you. Glad you got to see that beautiful granddaughter of yours. She's is sooo cute. I bet you'll had a great time together. To bad Cupid had gotten sick on the trip. Does he normally get sick on a three hour drive?
Its been crazy here. We are both looking for a good and affordable dentist. Its easy to find a good dentist but to find an affordable one is turning out to be quest. We saw 3 this week alone for consults. The last one we saw was friendly and all but we learned he had felony charges for useing laughing gas on him self. His picture was in the newspaper and all. We'll call and fill you in on all the details. Its way to long of a story. We send all our love. TTYS
Things remain hectic here...as I know it has been the same for you...But soon we will be in touch again...during the interim,
take care in the heat...and keep cool with the music we so love!
With Love Always,

Legends such as Stan do get to, in a sense, live on forever because of their beautiful contribution to this world. It is wonderful to see articles such as this, as well as many features on living jazz legends such as pianist Hank Jones, who just turned 90 this month!
Thank you for your warm and sweet video-comment Joan.
Love the fact that you like the accent he-he.
It's always a problem when you're speaking, or trying to speak, another language if people understand what you're trying to say and if one can find the right words LOL.
Thank you again.
Hugs

Thank you for the friendship Joan :-) And for posting the "People Time" video... I watched it today and was absolutely floored by it! WONDERFUL!

Sorry for the delay in response... I've only just logged back on. WOW, you live in Steiner Ranch, one of my dearest friends lives out there although I never make it up as I live downtown. Unfortunately, I don't know much about any other jazz "hotspots" here besides The Elephant Room, which is AWESOME! It's the only place I've ever gone for jazz here. It's on S. Congresss in the basement below Kyoto sushi restaurant. My perfect evening is to visit both ;-) Sorry I couldn't be more help. Have a wonderful weekend Joan!
HUGS!

Hey kid. Just back from vacation, NY, NJ, Penn, NJ and home. 10 days away from my sax. Picked it up today and had a very long session. I don't think I will ever leave it that long again.
thanks for the "Pennies from Heaven" info. Very detailed analysis.

The Poem above is so true. Joan we are both so glad you are singing from your beautiful soul and releasing the passion from within yourself and on to all the others that hear you songs. You are truly Blessed, please continue sharing your gift. Thanks Dear Friend, Lou and Eva
Hi Joan, I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking about you and hoping that your hatches stay battened and the storm passes you by. Plenty of prayers and hope are coming your way. Let's meet back on here after the spit hits the flan ;o)
