I didn't know, that you didn't know I was a tenor man Bev. ((o: The tenor sax was my first love. At the age of 13 I was studying Stan's technique and style. One of my very first albums was one of your Dad's. I copied my Stan Getz blog over to here from my MySpace Page, video codes, links and all. Now that you know, I will expect a Comment from you there. haha. BTW What beautiful smiles both You and Dad have in your default pic! You both look so Happy. - Lou
thanks kind Bev, your words are very precious for me...I am honoured for your appreciation...I love the 'voice' on tenor sax, and I'm happy to be here...greetings by Mario
Awee thank you sweet Bev:) You are the hostess with the mostest...such a sweet loving heart for people, pets, music and life. I appreciate that very much. I have found, or they have found me...the kindest people in this community. I may never meet face to face with a one, but the sweetness of the frienship and thoughts shared here will always be near and dear to my heart....you are at the top of that list;) I luv ya so much ^-^ Big hug!
Do you know Jack Lewis? He Produced all those Shorty Roger's recordings for RCA. Shorty and I were supposed to do a recording of Stan playing opera arias for Jack. We had a meeting with Shorty to map it out but Stan and Shorty passed away before it got off the ground. I made some demos with a quartet, I'll post them on my page when I get a chance.
So glad you liked the video of the two "søstrene" being guests together at a radio show.

Yes I also wrote the one they played the next year. I'm posting it now. The Now is the Time I actually wrote on an elevator ride. I got the lyric in an office on the 20th floor as I was going down I looked at the lyric, when I got to the lobby I pushed the 20th floor sang the song for the guy and the rest was history.
Hi Bev:) Hey I just came to add a video. This has happened 2 times to me, so I must be doing something wrong. I have had 2 people request frienship and although I hit accept they never show up...Either they change their mind lol OR I am doing something wrong. I would hate for anyone to think I declined them here:(
AWESOME SONG with Huey Lewis and Stan...another I haven't heard:) EXCELLENT! Luv Ya....xoxo
LOL Yes, the only place you will find testosterone in my life is on my page here...lol..OH and my dog, but I demand(de manned?)lol him, so he now even wears a bow in his hair...it is a boy bow so he is not fully confused LOL
Yes, I think you are right about traveling communities. 4 is my fix. I can barely keep up with that number. ;) This, of course is Tops for me.
Ok, well I would hate for someone to sneak in and do my homework...ha ha so I bid you ado and adon't know what "FEITAITCTAJ"! is, but it looks like a statement of great...magnitude?;)) Have a great day sweet Bev...Thank you Luv ya much..xoxo
Is there any way to get a copy of the whole recording with Stan? I went toAmazon, they seem to only have the 1st part, Do you know what Huey album has the whole thing? Just to add, the way Stan weaves around the chord changes is wonderful. Every bridge is a master piece.
My dictionary of "diction and fiction" is ever growing...LMBO;)
This has been added to the Repertoire..ha ha haa! It it too fantabulous to eliminate...:))xoxo
Today I was sitting back relaxing and listening to AOL Radio and just heard one of Stan's tunes off the Apasionado Album called Lonely Lady. Man, Stan sure knew how to express himself on his tenor. I didn't even know the same song is on the music player right here at Stan's Place. (o: How great is that!
Eva and I want to wish you a fun and safe 4th and we hope all the recent publicity Stella has received on Times Square hasn't gone to her big puppy head.lol As for us, we'll be home trying to convince our dog Annie that the world isn't coming to an end, and the fireworks will stop eventually. We hope to spend the rest of the summer like these two otters in the video below. Love you, Lou and Eva
LOL How funny to see the video below...same as I had added and referred to Eva and Lou haha. So cte they are, and so are the otters as well;) Funniest thing is??? That video is what brings me here. I was 1/2 kidding when I added that last statement about adding Stans "Didn't We," but I really think it would be so Saxy sensational to see that come to fruition...My question is...How does that idea strike you?:) If I have "struck" out, that is more than ok, but curiosity never is solved by being curios:) Man, you must be satiated by now of me today LOL haaaaaaaa Luv ya much xoxo
Awee:)) Great...ummmm.... well...where there's a will there's a way I always say;) It IS a great video....and Stans "Didn't We" would round it out to perfection:)) Thank you for your A-OK darlin! Luv ya much:) xoxo
I added Lotta Livin' too my page. Do you know George Young? I asked him to join.
I also asked Don Hill to join. He Was that wonderful alto player with the Treniers for 50 years. He also played with Satch in the 40s. He also played in a lot of sections with Sonny Stitt Who he went to school with.
Happy 4th.
YES:) When I first saw that pic I thought it resembled one of your "babies." ;) Well, Cupid and I drove around dodging maniacs and listening to the Austin Wind Symphony concert...THAT was excellent to hear. He freaked at the first shrill, so that was my alternative:)) Luv ya much
Bev,
Thanks for your note. I'm back in the Newburgh area tonight again (gig in the area on Sunday afternoon). I have enjoyed everyone I've worked/gigged with here very much. Beautiful scenery here - Hudson River, etc - very nice.
I was thinking earlier - might I have seen you perform with Buddy Rich's band around 1976 (with Cathy Rich)? I remember one of the times Buddy's band came around the Syracuse area (Skaneateles, NY to be exact - The Old Stone Mill Restaurant). Cathy was there and might you have been, too? Singing?
I was only about 15 then, but a friend of mine, Peter Erskine, also played there that same month with Maynard. The Old Stone Mill had several big bands that summer (Woody Herman and Stan Kenton, too). It was the year of the Montreal Summer Olympics, I remember.
This is a GREAT site and thanks to Artie Schroeck for inviting me!
Hi Bev,
Wow - so it was you who I saw. That was a fun time. The Old Stone Mill was a little restaurant just outside of Syracuse, NY (about 15 miles west). The band actually played in the restaurant itself - tables were moved to make room. Very small place, which was great for us. There wasn't a bad seat in the house! Thanks for the note and take care
Karl
I added a song on my page ALL OR NOTHING AT ALL with Frankie Valli. It's a chart I wrote for him. The vocal group is my son, Shem, singing the top 2 parts and me singing the bottom 2.
I don't think they are. My wife, Linda November, was the counterpart in New York to Bonny Hermann in Chicago during the jingle singer hey day. They knew each other at that time but lost contact. We're trying to get in touch with her, so if you do get in touch with Gene, see if he knows how. I was glad to give you that MP3.
Dear Bev.
I'm online for a few minutes and just wanted to say hello to you.
These days I'm writing a music arrangment on Spring is Here for the symphony orchestra and me, and I told Hilde I so deeply wished that Stan was with us and that I could write music arrangements with orchestra for him. I hear his sound all the time when I write now.
Much love to you and Stella.
Hugs and barks

Hi Bev,
How's things in Pleasant Valley? I'm not far from you tonight. Pretty country out here.
Did you see Cathy Rich this week? I'm just curious, did you sing/record with your dad's group? In fact, I think I saw somewhere (maybe even on this site) that you and Cathy recorded with your dad? That's so great......
I sent Cathy a my space note this week mentioning the NYC site, along with my heartfelt feelings of how her dad influenced me so much. Received a very nice response form her.
I hope you're having a great weekend. I love this site!
Best to you always,
Karl
Hey Bev...Just dropping in to say hello, I luv ya much and have a wonderful Sunday:)) LOL I just read your paragraph above about your dad and his drum dream...haha. My mom had us taking drum lessons in our home...need I say, she sold the drums rather quickly and made us all cry...haaaaaaaa. I guess not as much as she was crying having to hear us fight over who was gonna play next:) Ohh mommy! So sorry! How she is still sane and happy is beyond me haaaaaa Blessings to you sweet one(-;0
