PS Doc put me on a week of antibiotics, just to ward off any chance of Lyme. GOOD! Hate those little 'suckers'!!

Oh my goodness Marla... I am FLOORED! Have never seen this video. Sitting here with tears streaming! It's really one of the best. Not only dad, but the quality! So many of the YouTube's are such bad sound that I can't listen to them.

THANK YOU for posting this! Sincerely.

    Chores are CAWLIN'!

    Huge Hug,
    Bev

    Good Morning Bev,

You really do get up early!!!

I'm so glad you feel the video is as touching as I do. There's one more tune at home with a different group - I think George Mraz and maybe Albert Dailey....I'll post that when I get home..I believe the tune is "Wave." It is strange, there's only two tunes on the video and both are powerful performances, so I guess two tunes is better than twenty in this case! Then, I'll start going through my hard drives for the other videos. Do you have the White House 1982 performance? Your Dad, Diz, Roy Haynes, Diane Schuur, Chick Corea, Miroslav Vitous? Actually, since it isn't here I can put it up anyway!

You are doing chores while I'm getting ready to go to day two of jazz video-a-thon world. Home tomorrow.

Since I'm only a few hours away from you in driving time, I'm assuming you are experiencing the same magnificent weather.

Anyway, I'm not quite sure how to share this video with the rest of the group, but hopefully they'll all "mosey over" to my page!

I hope you and Hilde are having big fun!

    Love from Albany,
    Marla

Got stuck here Marla! lol!! Really need to get going...

There's a video of the White House performance??? I had no idea! Can't wait!!

I'm so sorry...those chores are "a-cawlin!!!!" Enjoy the weather and yes, while the video quality isn't as good on the White House video, the music is heavenly, so I'll work on that when I get home. Yes, it is "hosted" by Itzhak Perlman. Perlman even "sits in" with the guys!

Mornin' Mariffic! We haven't gotten washed away nor blown away so far. Pretty wild storms last night but we seem to be in a protected pocket, not to be confused with a pocket protector! I imagine that you're in jazz video heaven right now and having the time of your life. We'll talk soon, thanks for asking. Yes indeed, beaming up to Bahston would be high on the list. "Here's George Jetson" - amazing how that stuff stays in your head, like we need anymore clutter!

    Love to ya'

    Marla,

No I never had the privilege of meeting him. But I saw him perform
here. I think he settled in Toronto in the mid seventies. Great
    player. Very nice.

Hey, Marjazzer! How I wish I could be there with you in NY! Enjoy every note and moment. I can see you out there taking pics of Times Square, not like the old days when it was hardcore, ay? I hope to hear about all of your adventures when you get back. I'll tell you my short story in an email. I LOVE the 82' vid you posted here! You should be declared an official national jazz archivist. On the other hand, I might fall into the jazz anarchist category. ;o)

Safe journeys, swingin' nights, and laugh-filled days to you.

    Sticky hugs from humid TX

So how's my groovin' friend Mar? I've been thinking about you a lot. Are you ESP'ing me, haha... that sounds like, "You've got to be ESP'ing me!" I think we've coined a new phrase. I hope to talk soon - like before we start getting senior citizen discounts. If I start to think about eating dinner at 4:00 p.m. I'm really gonna' be in trouble! Have a good week and we'll be phone to phone soon I betcha' by golly wow.

    Love & Geritol,

    your Damnitol pal.

How's my favorite Mar doin'? Yeah, I truly do look forward to burnin' up the phone wires with ya very soon. We're getting Mommaboppa P prepared to leave for northern California tomorrow - she's teaching again at Madeline Eastman's Jazz Camp West. Pretty cool place - heard that not just from Mommaboppa P, but from many of the "campers," who range in age from say, about 6 to 76 (or something like that)! I'm thinking of driving to Saratoga in a couple of weeks to attend the concerts at the Skidmore summer jazz program. My old friend Pat LaBarbera is there and I haven't seen him in a few years. To have the opportunity to hear Pat, Bill Cunliffe, Curtis Fuller, Bobby Shew, Todd Coolman, Clayton Cameron...well, we'll see if I can get my act together and put it on Broadway (as we might say since I just returned from midtown Manhattan). I'll post some more rare Mr. Getz as soon as I can clear the desk here a bit!

    Love and vitamin supplements,
    Marla

    Marla,

    How are you ?
    Saw you on Organissimo again;)
    Sad news about Gerry Wiggins.

Hope all is well with you.

  • Denis Ouellet

    Thanks Marla.
So sorry about Gerry. Such a wonderful man and musician.
Give my bests to his family. I always loved his playing.

Wow, should be a blast to hear Don Menza. Another monster player.
I have an LP made in Toronto in 1977 under Pete Magadini's leadership.
"Bones Blues". Don Menza, Wray Downes and Dave Young. Wonderful.
I also saw Don in Montreal in the early 80's. He played at the Musicians's Union
club. Sam Noto was on trumpet.

    You have a safe trip.
    See you soon.

    Denis

Thank you! I needed that :o) I'm just thinking about you and wanted to send you my sympathy about the loss of your friend Gerry. I wish you a safe journey and may the music heal your heart. Here's hoping we all meet again on the grandest journey and oh man, there will be the coolest music forever!

Love & hugs to you my dear friend.
